| Major refurbishment complete
The modern airy bar is now a comfortable meeting place for locals as well as the first place in Malvern to offer lunchtime and evening carvery seven days a week.
Leaseholders John and Linda Horsley have run the pub with their son John-James for the last five years. John said "We've kept the traditional elements of the pub with games such as crib and darts. Although people were worried at first when we reopened the bar after nine weeks, just before Christmas, it gave the locals a chance to have a look around and we've had really positive feedback."
Owned by Marstons Plc, the bar has four real ales available as well as house wine by the glass and a wine list. If you want to meet up mid-morning or afternoon with friends, you can enjoy a cappuccino or latte.
The Horsleys and Richard Morrall, of RWH Contracts, worked to create a warm and, friendly atmosphere where the eating and bar area are fluid, enabling people to use the space as they choose.
John continued "We researched the food side a lot. Previously we offered pub lunches Tuesday to Saturday and saw that a carvery at lunchtimes and evenings could be a success. We weren't going to take bookings but so many people have already called to reserve tables that we have decided to. However you can still just turn up. We'll show you to a table and serve you their."
The carvery will have a choice of three meats and eight vegetables as well as a specials board with choices such as lasagne, a vegetarian option and steak and ale pie, all of which can be accompanied by carvery veg.
John added "Starters and puddings like crumble and banoffi pie will be homemade." The Alfresco garden terrace has the same stylish furniture as inside the pub, along with lights and heaters.
The bar is open all day and the carvery is available lunchtimes and evenings from Monday to Friday and all day weekends.
